Challenge
Advance, a division of Philips Electronics North America Corporation and the leading manufacturer of ballasts and drivers for fluorescent, HID, and LED lamps in North America, wanted to update the look and capabilities of its corporate Web site in anticipation of its 60th Anniversary. Advance also wanted to develop a portal site which strengthened its brand image and provided user-centric content to its various demographic groups, which include Distributors, OEMs, Contractors, and Partners.
Our Solution
IMS implemented an early version of what would later become Neptune.
Result
During the planning stage of this unique project, IMS partnered with Chicago-based design firm Shortwave to conduct a requirements analysis and write a functional specification for development. From the beginning, project management was a crucial part of the solution due to the complexities and size of the project. Weekly update meetings allowed all stakeholders to remain informed and on task. IMS was responsible for functionality recommendations and all code development and in the end delivered a product that met all the requirements - sophisticated looks, needed functionality, and required custom additions (such as the IMS-designed database to handle the complexity of the displayed information).
AdvanceTransformer.com balances high design and usability, is packed with extensive product information, is organized to accommodate various user audiences…and is award-winning. Not long after its launch, the new Advance Web site was the recipient of a prestigious 2005 Tower Award from the Chicago Chapter of the Business Marketing Association (BMA), sponsor of what is considered to be Chicago's premier business-to-business creative competition.
