See the Selection Process page.
How many IMS Community donations are granted each year?
IMS Community donations are usually granted to 1-2 qualifying non
profit organizations each business quarter, however IMS reserves the
right to modify the number based on available resources.
What is the monetary value of an IMS Community donation?
The monetary amount depends on the type of product or service
requested. The most common request is for our website management
product, IMS SiteManager.
A standard package IMS SiteManager license fee is $2495 a year, so the
cash value of the award starts there and increases by that amount each
year an organization renews its contract with IMS. In some cases, IMS
reserves the right to include a custom design ($1995) or premium
modules (ranging from $195 to $595 per year ) with the initial award.
The exact amount will always be clearly documented in writing at the
time of acceptance.
How long does the selection process take?
Usually after reviewing your application IMS will notify you via
email within a couple weeks to let you know if your organization
qualifies as a good candidate for an IMS solution. After that the
selection process depends on the number of qualified applicants ahead
of your organization and the availability of IMS resources during that
quarter.
If my organization is selected as an IMS Community recipient, what happens next?
After notification, we'll mail or email you a contract and you'll have a week to respond if you wish to accept the donation.
Based on your application form we finalize the details (Sections Names,
Design, etc) and include those in the contract. The initial
contract outlines that IMS agrees to waive the license fee for that
year. Additional fees for custom work may
also be waived, depending on the final award amount set by IMS.
Subsequent annual renewal fees will also be waived, per the initial
award instructions, however we require an updated contract be signed
each year for our records.
IMS SiteManager recipients should preview the IMS SiteManager Web site - FAQ for more info.
Why do I have to sign a contract with IMS if I am a IMS Community recipient?
The initial contract lists what is included in the donation
package, so both parties know what to expect. After the first year you
will receive a renewal contract, which simply reiterates the terms and
waves the agreed upon license fees for that year.
Who owns my site if it uses an IMS solution?
You will always maintain ownership of the content, text, and
images that you upload to the site. If you wish to cancel your IMS
contract, you can grab an HTML copy of your site and host
it with any ISP. Of course you will lose your IMS control panel capabilities.
Can award recipients expand the capabilities of their IMS website?
Of course. IMS products are built so that it would be easy for organizations to expand their sites capabilities when the need arose. IMS products also have the ability to integrate with your organization’s existing database(s). Unless stated in your initial contract with IMS, custom work is subject to the regular fees that apply.
